On Top of Panuran Heights

On Top of Panuran Heights

Following the conduct of FGDs, the ITPGRFA Project Team together with the Municipal Agriculture Office and barangay representatives conquered the heights of Panuran, Janiuay to search for in situ crop samples of rice, sweet potato, taro and yam.

An hour-walk from the barangay hall, the Panuran Mountain reaches through boundaries of Antique and Iloilo. The trail, man-made carved stairs, was bald and grassy which adds to the effect of warm weather. Alongside were aromatic traditional rice varieties that are near to maturity. Most rice varieties were planted on top of rootcrops which are grown at lower altitude.
